Inspired by Nguyen Du's Truyen Kieu
The heroine, Kiều, is a sixteen-year-old girl who, to save her father, descends in stages into degradation and prostitution before finding true love again. The show alternates prose and poetry, music and theatre, French and Vietnamese. Carried by 18 young Vietnamese from Hanoi, all studying French, this play is a journey through the values and beliefs of Vietnam, transfigured by today's sensibility.
