ABOUT ATH PRODUCTION
Juliet & Romeo is an original ATH Production, developed and produced by ATH Theatre through artistic research, experimentation and collaboration. Beginning with a question rather than a finished script, the production explores new theatrical languages while creating space for artists to experiment and develop their voices.

A new encounter with Shakespeare.
Set in contemporary Vietnam, Juliet & Romeo reimagines Shakespeare’s tragedy inside a world where tradition, family, generations and rapid urban transformation constantly collide. Through an immersive experience at ATH Theatre, participants move through an evolving environment where costumes, characters and relationships are continuously transformed.
At the centre, Juliet and Romeo remain constant while the world around them changes. Beyond the story of two lovers, this experience explores identity, inheritance, belonging and the invisible structures that shape who we become.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Building identities.
Rather than simply modernising Shakespeare, Juliet & Romeo asks why his story still resonates today. Inspired by Hanoi - a city where old and new, memory and transformation coexist - the production builds a theatrical world that is always under construction.
From costumes and graphic make-up to industrial scenography and the transforming chorus, every element reflects identities in the process of becoming. Nothing is ever finished. The work explores what it means to inherit a story, question it and ultimately build an identity of our own.
