1. OVERVIEW

This band welcomes adults with basic instrumental or vocal experience who wish to develop their musicianship through a collaborative creative process. More than a class, it is an opportunity to rehearse, experiment, compose, and perform as part of a real ensemble while sharing the excitement of making music together.

At the beginning of the season, the band defines its artistic direction according to the members' musical influences, ambitions, and technical abilities. Together, participants build a repertoire that may include original compositions, rearranged covers, or a combination of both, while exploring songwriting, arrangement, improvisation, and live performance.

Working as an ensemble encourages every musician to contribute creatively while developing listening skills, communication, adaptability, and a strong sense of collective musical identity. Throughout the season, rehearsals progressively transform individual musicians into a cohesive band.

2. OBJECTIVES

Throughout the season, participants develop ensemble playing, musical listening, songwriting, arrangement, improvisation, rehearsal techniques, and stage performance. They strengthen creativity, confidence, communication, and their ability to collaborate effectively within a band while progressively becoming more autonomous musicians.

The program also introduces the practical realities of contemporary music-making, including stage communication, rehearsal organization, live performance techniques, and the fundamentals of studio recording, allowing participants to experience the complete creative journey of a working band.

The season culminates in one or more live performances, presented as part of the Winter Fest and the P.A.S. Festival. Depending on the band's artistic project, participants also record a studio demo featuring original compositions or selected repertoire, providing a lasting record of their collaborative work and creative development.

3. DISCIPLINE SUMMARY

Music: Express Yourself and Perform

ATH music classes develop a complete musical experience, combining instrument or vocal practice,  improvisation, and ensemble performance. Students explore rhythm, melody, harmony, and creative expression while playing in groups, bands, or ensembles.

Music classes are designed for beginners and advanced students alike, and focus only on group learning, there are no private lessons included. Collaboration, listening, and community music-making are central to the practice.
