Overview
Directing is the art of transforming ideas, texts, performers, space, and movement into a coherent theatrical experience. Often difficult to define from the outside, it requires both artistic vision and the practical ability to communicate, make choices, and guide a creative team.
This workshop introduces participants to the fundamental tools of stage directing through practical experimentation. Participants explore how to analyze a scene, communicate with actors, organize space, create stage images, develop rhythm, and make artistic choices that serve a production.
The workshop is also valuable for actors: understanding the director's perspective can deepen their awareness of the stage, the production as a whole, and their own role within the creative process.
Why This Workshop?
A director must constantly move between the big picture and the smallest details. They need to understand the story they want to tell while working concretely with actors, movement, rhythm, space, and stage composition.
Learning the fundamentals of directing helps participants turn intuition into clear artistic choices. It also develops leadership, communication, observation, and the ability to support performers without limiting their creativity.
